Huge weekend project...

Upgrading my 1994 Prelude for better ride comfort, handling and overall safety.  Imagine that these parts we're replacing are probably 16 years old... 2 years younger than Wasil!

First I would like to thank both Zuhri and Chris for helping out with this major upgrade. Definitely would not be possible without their help.

Objective:
- 2 new front brake rotors (Brembo blanks)

- 1 new drive cv-axle (left driver side)

- New brake pads (2 per side, total 4)... Ceramics from O'Reilly's... no pics sorry.
- 4 new springs (Eibach pro-kit) - Lowers the car 1.2" at the front, 1" at the back.

- 4 new shocks (Tokico blues)

Time to put these in, after the break...

Work begins... while watching the world cup in the basement early at about 9am. Here is Zuhri, happy that he got the first strut out from front right suspension (passenger side). Little that we knows that this will take literally the whole day + the next morning!

New shock/spring beside the old shock in black (original I think!)

Borrowed some tools from O'Reilly's Auto Parts....

New brake rotors vs. the old one... boy they look so different!

Rusted out from the inside!

A look behind the rotors...

Glad I am replacing these!  Note to self: change the rear discs soon!

Empty passenger side wheel well, getting new parts in!

Our working area... by the TV to keep us distracted!

Zuhri putting in the new CV drive axle

Working hard...

Old CV driveshaft with broken boot... new CV driveshaft is cheaper than the cost of labor to change out the boots, and is better in the long run!

Me working... not getting dirty sitting in a clean box, LOL.

Saturday is over, we ended at midnight.  Chris left after we eat some beef satay, and we left the rear suspension for Sunday morning.

Rear right suspension, taken out... upper control arm ball joint couldn't be taken out so we unbolted the control arms instead...

Long story short, right when we're ready to install the rear shocks, we found out that the new shocks were actually used!  I was upset at myself for not inspecting the shocks beforehand!  We opted to still change the springs, and use the used shocks anyways while waiting for the seller to explain the situation.

The bad shocks, this is how it came out of the box...

After we installed the right rear shocks, we found out that the other 'used' shock was CUT!  We couldn't use it.  So we put the old shocks back in with the new rear springs...

So my setup now is pretty odd.  New shocks+springs in the fronts, new springs in the rear with used tokico blue on the right rear wheel and the original 14 year old shocks on the left rear wheel.  Haha!

New shocks on the right, see it was cut when compared to the old one... sigh.

All was done at noon. Just in time before lunch and before they have to leave KC to go home in Independence, KS. We took the Prelude for a test drive to Abg. Ramli's house (he wasn't there) - but Dzakiyy and Muqsitt was.  Dzakiyy took some pictures. The car is now lowered and looked pretty sweet!  It rides a lot better too (comfort wise)...

Again I want to thank Zuhri, Chris for their help - and Aishah/KB/Irfan for being patient while we were busy fixing up the good 'ole Prelude. Also want to mention Jerry the neighbor that helped with taking out the big bad spindle nut with his pressurized impact hammer/wrench... :)

See the lowered ride height, and the new brake rotor!

Update: The seller was nice about the issue and opted to send me new rear shocks free of charge.  He'd never seen anything like this in the 14 years they're in business - but they took care of it anyways.
